Proposed Network Topology and Design

3.    Proposed Network Topology and Design

  • Shop Lot Layout and Space Allocation

The shop lot, measuring 15 feet by 25 feet, will be divided into the following sections:

  1.  Reception/Check-in Counter: Near the entrance, occupying 5’ x 5’.
  2. Computer Stations: 10 computers arranged in rows, each station occupying 4’ x 4’.

  3. Server Room: A small room of 5’ x 5’ for networking and server equipment.

  4. Rest Area: Remaining space for customer relaxation and amenities.

  • Computer Stations Layout

The layout will feature two rows of computer stations with five computers each. This arrangement maximizes the use of space while ensuring ease of movement and access to each station.

  • Networking Devices

The following networking devices will be utilized:

  1. Router: A high-performance router to manage and direct traffic.

  2. Switches: Managed switches to connect multiple devices within the network.

  3. Server: A dedicated server for handling internet traffic, user authentication, and file storage.

  4. Access Points: Wireless access points to provide Wi-Fi coverage.

  5. Cabling and Connectors: Cat6 Ethernet cables for wired connections, RJ45 connectors.

  6. UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply): To ensure continuous operation during power outages.

        Specific Device Models

  1. Router: Cisco RV340 Dual WAN Gigabit Router
  2. Switches: Cisco SG350 28-Port Gigabit Managed Switch
  3. Server: Dell PowerEdge T340 Tower Server
  4. Access Points: Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC Pro
  5. UPS: APC Smart-UPS 1500VA

  • Topology

The chosen topology for the cyber café is a CyberSips Cafe. This topology is ideal for the following reasons:

  1. Ease of Management: Each device is connected to a central switch, simplifying network management.

  2. Fault Tolerance: A failure in one cable or device does not affect the rest of the network.

Scalability: Easy to add more devices without disrupting the network.
